Meter problems are among the most common mechanical problems at a fuel dispensing facility. Hundreds of case scenarios can be quoted on this type of problem. Basically these problems are dealt with by immediately dispatching maintenance crews to sites for a meter check and calibration if necessary, generally a 48-hour response is required.
In one situation a crew was dispatched to reset meters, a meter was found to be at +11, it was reset to 0. The following analysis showed the problem to be cleared up. Several weeks later the same type of pattern developed in the analysis of the data. It was suggested that the work performed earlier be checked. This found the meter to once again be out of tolerance at +14, the meter would not reset and had to be replaced. |
